Hands-on Workshop on Prostate MRI

Date: 13-14 April, 2018
Location: Université Paris-Descartes, Hôpital Cochin, Paris, France
Organised by : François Cornud, M.D.,Hôpital Cochin, Department of Radiology (Pr Legmann)

Learning objectives

Modern prostate MRI, including Dynamic Contrast Enhanced-MRI (DCE-MRI), spectroscopic MRI (S-MRI), and diffusion-Weighted MRI (DW-MRI) yields a high detection rate of prostate cancer. Among these functional sequences, DW-MRI has gained the widest acceptance, owing to its high accuracy for localizing significant prostatic tumor foci. MR findings can be used to target suspicious prostatic areas to improve the detection rate of significant tumors in different clinical settings including naïve biopsy patients, repeat biopsy patients, active surveillance, pre-operative staging and diagnostic of recurrence after radical treatment. MR findings can also be used to focally ablate a tumor focus in selected indications, as an alternative to radical treatments.

This hands-on workshop covers these topics and, at the end of the workshop, the attendants will know:

  1. the MRI features of the different categories of the PI-RADS0
  2. the rationale for a pre-bx MRI
  3. the role of MR-targeted and systematic biopsies
  4. the correlation of MRI findings with the surgical histology of PCa
  5. the MRI findings of local recurrence after radical treatment.
  6. the different techniques of MR-targeted focal therapy.
