The role

As Senior Payroll & Benefits Specialist, you are fully responsible for the end-to-end payroll process for the Netherlands and several international entities within the European HQ organization. Payroll expertise is at the heart of this role. You act as the subject matter expert for all payroll-related topics, ensuring accurate, compliant and timely payroll execution while driving process improvements and maintaining strong governance standards. In addition to payroll ownership, you support benefits administration, mobility and lease processes, and work closely with HR, Finance and external payroll providers across an international environment.

What will you do?

  • Own and coordinate the full monthly payroll process for the Netherlands and international entities in collaboration with external payroll providers.
  • Ensure accurate processing, validation and reconciliation of payroll changes, including salaries, bonuses, pensions, benefits and leave administration.
  • Act as the payroll subject matter expert for Dutch payroll legislation, taxation, social security and expat-related payroll topics.
  • Manage payroll controls, reporting and documentation in line with internal governance and audit requirements.
  • Drive payroll process optimization, automation and continuous improvement initiatives, including HRIS and payroll system enhancements.
  • Support benefits, mobility and lease administration, including payroll and tax implications.

What do you bring?

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance, or a related field, combined with a VPS qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in Dutch payroll administration and payroll operations (mandatory).
  • Strong knowledge of Dutch payroll legislation, labour law, taxation, social security and payroll compliance.
  • Experience with international payroll processes, expats and collaboration with external payroll providers.
  • Experience with payroll systems such as AFAS and preferably Oracle Fusion.
  • Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English.
