Join Canon Medical at the annual scientific meeting of the European Society of Thoracic Imaging (ESTI 2026) in Salzburg (June 04–06) for a focused symposium exploring how modern CT and AI technologies can help address these challenges across the lung cancer screening pathway – from image acquisition and reconstruction to analysis, reporting, and follow-up.
Across Europe, lung cancer screening (LCS) with low-dose CT is progressively expanding. As national programs are implemented and European initiatives support wider adoption, important challenges – such as ensuring diagnostic confidence at low dose, improving accessibility, supporting efficient workflows, and managing nodules and incidental findings – remain.
Mark your calendar and don’t miss our dedicated symposium, “New CT and AI technologies in Lung Cancer Screening: From Accessibility to Nodule Management,” on June 4, to learn more about the topic.
June 04, 12:05–13:05 | Room 1
Don’t miss the Canon Medical symposium at ESTI 2026, where leading experts will share their perspectives and experience on the topic.
The session will be moderated by Prof. Mathias Prokop and will feature presentations from Prof. Annemiek Snoeckx and Prof. Cornelia M. Schaefer-Prokop.
Prof. Mathias Prokop
Mathias Prokop is Professor of Radiology and Chairman of the Department of Medical Imaging at Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. His department focuses on impactful innovations in care and now hosts one of the largest research groups in Europe.
For decades, he has been involved with many technological and clinical innovations in CT, from dual energy, spiral scanning, CTA, gated imaging, multidetector technology, dose reduction, low-kV scanning, to more recently, ultrahigh-resolution CT, image reconstruction, and photon-counting CT.
Prof. Annemiek Snoeckx
Annemiek Snoeckx, MD, PhD is an Associate Professor at the University of Antwerp and serves as Chair of the Radiology Department at Antwerp University Hospital in Belgium. Her clinical and research expertise centers on chest imaging, with a particular focus on thoracic oncology, including lung cancer, pulmonary nodules and lung cancer screening.
Prof. Snoeckx plays an active role in various professional societies, including ESR, ESTI, ERS. She authored or co-authored 100+ papers in peer-reviewed journals and has lectured at many national and international meetings and courses. She is principal investigator of the Flemish lung cancer screening implementation study ZORALCS.
Prof. Cornelia M. Schaefer-Prokop
Professor Cornelia Schaefer-Prokop works as a radiologist at Meander Medical Center in Amersfoort, in the Netherlands. Her research affiliations are with the Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen, the Netherlands and Hannover Medical School in Hannover, Germany.
Prof. Schaefer-Prokop is an expert in chest radiology with main research interests in computer-aided detection and classification, lung cancer screening, and interstitial lung diseases. She has served as President of the Fleischner Society and as President of the European Society of Thoracic Imaging.
