The number of multiple pregnancies is increasing over the last couple of years mainly due to increasing maternal age and assisted reproduction,

These pregnancies are at higher risk for complications and poor outcomes compared to singleton pregnancies. This can be for example premature labor and birth, gestational hypertension, pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, placenta abruption, fetal growth restriction, or even fetal death.
