Canon Online Cardiology Days | Multimodality Live Webinars

The Canon Cardiology Days consist of daily interactive webinars, led by a world renowned international faculty of cardiology experts. The days will provide an online platform for healthcare professionals with an interest in cardiology to connect and learn as we explore state-of-the-art imaging and clinical management insights during a series of interactive lectures, practical teaching sessions and real life clinical case discussions.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) remain the leading cause of death worldwide (1). Moreover, experts predict that the global COVID-19 pandemic will have a further negative influence on cardiovascular health and mortality rates for many years to come (2).

Facing the increasing burden of CVD requires us to work together. To improve the wellbeing of patients and avoid healthcare system overload, we need to collaborate, not only in the innovation and development of new technologies but also in their implementation and best practices. Canon Medical understands the importance of education and strives to be the ‘’Voice of Cardiology’’ by bringing together subject-experts from all over the world to share discoveries and insights from research and clinical practice.

Cardiovascular Disease - New Insights

CVD - An Old Problem. New Ways to Look at It

Facing the increasing burden of CVD calls for new approaches that allow earlier detection as well as more individualized management. Recently, a greater understanding of the underlying pathophysiology is changing the way we categorise coronary artery disease. In this session, we'll discuss how combined with new advanced diagnostic tools, new diagnostic and therapeutic management strategies are emerging.

+ Day 1 | Cardiovascular Disease - New Insights

Cardiovascular Disease - Productivity

How I Do It –Complex Imaging in a Busy Environment

In cardiology clinical practice, the role of imaging is continuously expanding. However, not only the number of imaging studies increases but also their complexity. Similarly, physicians will have more and more complex patients to care for. In this session, we'll discuss how to streamline workflows to face the increasing workload in times with restricted resources.

+ Day 2 | Cardiovascular Disease - Productivity

Structural Heart Disease

Optimize Outcomes

The number of patients presenting for structural heart disease (SHD) treatments such as mitral valve repair or left atrial appendage closure is growing rapidly. For both surgical and transcatheter approaches, imaging plays a crucial role from preprocedural evaluation and device selection to treatment and follow-up. In this session, we’ll discuss current challenges and solutions to optimise patient outcomes in SHD interventions.

+ Day 3 | Structural Heart Disease

Pediatric Cardiology

Challenging Cases in Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease

Congenital heart disease can be complex and challenging to fully characterize. Also, the evaluation of young infants places extremely high demands on imaging. In this session, we’ll discuss clinical case studies illustrating how novel imaging technologies can increase understanding of pathology while improving the comfort and safety of pediatric patients.

+ Day 4 | Pediatric Cardiology

Sports Cardiology

Don’t Drop the Ball. Avoiding Sudden Cardiac Death in Sports

Sudden cardiac death is an established problem in athletes. Cardiovascular screening allows early detection of disease. Yet, over-conservative diagnosis can unnecessarily exclude individuals from participating in sports and can damage careers. Sports cardiology is all about striking the perfect balance in promoting sports and minimizing the risk of events, whether dealing with weekend warriors or elite players.
