Tetsuya Kawagishi appointed as President and CEO of Canon Medical Systems Europe

Zoetermeer, The Netherlands, 1 February 2021 – Canon Medical has today announced the appointment of Tetsuya Kawagishi as President and CEO of Canon Medical Systems Europe. The move, which comes at a critical time for healthcare providers around the world, reflects the business’s unwavering commitment to partnership, innovation, and effective communication as key drivers for success.

Toshio Takiguchi, CEO and President of Canon Medical Systems says of the appointment, “Mr. Kawagishi has an impressive track record when it comes to engineering, product and business management. For more than 27 years, Tetsuya Kawagishi has been the driving force behind many of the business’s key successes. These include the development and launch of the Aplio i-series ultrasound systems designed to deliver excellent clinical precision and departmental productivity, as well as various ‘world-first-technologies’ developed in close collaboration with European customers. He also contributed to significant business growth in particular regions by carefully listening to its market needs.

Having started in the medical research and development department, where his focus was on ultrasound, Mr. Kawagishi became the department’s deputy manager in 2003. He then moved to the clinical application group of the ultrasound systems development department, where he started as deputy manager and subsequently was promoted to chief specialist. As of 2009, he held various positions at the ultrasound systems division, including chief specialist, group manager, and product manager. Before moving to his new position as President and CEO of Canon Medical Systems Europe, Mr. Kawagishi occupied a top position in the ultrasound systems division, after having achieved outstanding successes in the ultrasound clinical solution project.

Mr. Kawagishi will assume his responsibilities on 1 February 2021 and will succeed Nobuyuki Hatakeyama.
