First on the Scene to Support Athletes

October 14, 2022

As top sports events across the world resume in 2022, following pandemic restrictions from previous years, Canon Medical’s mobile unit is back as well to provide medical imaging support to sport events.

The ‘Centre Médical Mobile’ (Medical Imaging Mobile), which was established in 2010 by Grégory and Louis Ramel, offers medical imaging to all athletes in many elite events, including the Dakar Rally, the Tour de France, and several world-class motorsports events.

“While training for events of this kind involves careful steps that include measures to prevent injuries, accidents occasionally happen, often due to unforeseen circumstances,” said Grégory Ramel.

“One example was the terrible fall of Daniel Oss caused by a spectator during the Tour de France 2022,” added Louis Ramel. “Under these circumstances, access to immediate medical imaging is essential for rapid and accurate diagnosis to enable decisions to be made as to whether the athlete can continue in the competition not. This is the major role that Canon Medical plays. We are proud to be part of the elite sports ‘adventure’ by offering the best in medical imaging for athletes.”

Many advantages

The mobile unit offers fast access to Canon’s advanced imaging technology and can save on minor trauma care costs. There is no need for athletes to go to the hospital or clinic, as the unit has a treatment room and features ultrasound imaging and digital radiology systems from Canon. Any imaging required is performed by experts in musculoskeletal imaging radiologists overseen by Dr. Denis Jacob. Each patient can obtain a digital copy of the examinations carried out. Access to the Centre Médical Mobile is free and saves administrative time (social security, mutual insurance, sports federation). For event organizers, there is added surety and less stress while waiting for medical assistance before resuming the event.

Innovation inside

The Centre Médical Mobile features several of Canon Medical’s most innovative systems that offer athletes top quality MSK imaging.
