Join us on April 24 for the upcoming "MRI/Ultrasound Fusion-Guided Prostate Biopsy" webinar, which will be held at 7 pm CEST / 1 pm EDT.
The event will focus on MRI/ultrasound software fusion-guided prostate biopsy techniques, particularly the transperineal (TP) approach, as recommended by the European Association of Urology (EAU).
During the webinar made possible by the Canon Medical Academy, the speakers will present and discuss "how-to," tips and tricks, as well as actual results concerning detection rate, patient experience, and safety from two centers that have performed more than 500 TP MRI/ultrasound fusion-guided biopsy cases each on Canon Aplio i-series ultrasound systems equipped with Canon Smart Fusion software.

MRI/ultrasound fusion-guided prostate biopsies in the transperineal approach have become the recommended biopsy procedure according to the guidelines of the European Association of Urology (EAU).
In our department, we established a streamlined and timesaving protocol for this approach under local anesthesia using a Canon Aplio i800 ultrasound scanner.
We have performed more than 500 biopsies with very good tolerance by the patients and a high detection rate for clinically significant cancers.

Prof. Inga Peters, MD, PhDProf. Inga Peters is a urologist and professor specializing in robot-assisted surgery and uro-oncology. She currently serves as Deputy Medical Director and Chief Physician of Urology at Krankenhaus Nordwest in Frankfurt.
Previously, Dr. Peters has held leadership roles at the Medical University of Hannover, including Head of the Prostate Cancer Center, and has conducted significant research on renal cell carcinoma and prostate cancer.
Prof. Peters is an active member of several prominent urological societies and is committed to teaching and leadership in medicine.
Dr. Katrien Gieraerts, MDDr. Katrien Gieraerts is a radiologist at the Radiology Department of AZ Sint-Jan General Hospital in Bruges, Belgium.
She is an expert in mammography, ultrasound, and ultrasound-guided biopsies, including fusion-guided biopsies.
In close cooperation with the urologists, she has also focused on MRI-TRUS fusion-guided transperineal prostate biopsies during the last few years.
Dr. Matthias Jahnen, MDDr. Matthias Jahnen is an experienced physician at the University Hospital Rechts der Isar, Technical University of Munich.
His research and clinical work focus on improving biopsy strategies in men with suspected prostate cancer. He has extensive experience in transrectal and perineal prostate biopsies under local anesthesia.
He is the principal investigator of the FAST trial, a prospective randomized trial aimed to reduce unnecessary systematic biopsy cores by using frozen section analysis-assisted targeted prostate biopsy.
