DIAGNOSTIC ULTRASOUND IN NEUROLOGY

Ultrasound offers several possibilities in neuro diseases assessment. Safe and real time vascular Doppler modes are perfect tools for cervical vessel evaluation. Ultra high-resolution imaging extend possibilities in nerve imaging field from plexus brachialis to very small peripheral nerves.

Ultra High Frequency imaging

High-resolution ultrasound opens a wide scope in evaluating nerve and muscle diseases. With the current ultra high-frequency transducers new perspectives have been opened in evaluating the smallest nerves and its pathologies. It delivers precise pattern visualization and clear internal nerve structure for better lesions characterization and therapy guidance.

Median nerve compression (Gout joint swelling)
iDMS Active Matrix probes

intelligent Dynamic Micro-Slice technology (iDMS) increases clinical accuracy and reveals more detail in all depths for vessels muscles or tendons fibers injuries by electronically focusing the beam multi-dimensionally. iDMS provides ultra-thin, uniform slices for enhanced elevation and contrast resolution. The vascular iDMS transducer will provide the optimal resolution for assessing the intima media, thrombus and plaque morphology.
Common carotid artery - floating thrombus
Superb Micro-vascular Imaging (SMI)

SMI combines very high sensitivity for slow flows, ultra high frame rate and motion artifacts reduction. These elements are key qualities for carotid plaque assessment. Intraplaque neovascularization (IPN) plays a key role in plaque instability in patients with cerebrovascular disease. Due to SMI’s unique algorithm low-velocity blood flow, such seen in IPN, is preserved while clutter is removed. This means the use of invasive contrast injections is no longer needed in patients suspected of IPN.

Transcranial Duplex

With the broadband sector transducer the diagnostics and follow-up of intracranial vascular diseases and intra-operative monitoring can be perfectly performed due to an excellent B-mode image as well as a sensitive color Doppler.
